Introducing our beautiful and eco-friendly handmade wool felt toys, perfect for children and even beloved by cats. These toys are crafted using the ancient technique of Namda, a traditional craft passed down through generations in the regions of Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Rajasthan. The Namda cluster in Tonk district, known for its rich history under the rule of the Pathans of Afghanistan, is home to around 500 skilled Pinjare artisans who continue to keep this art alive.

While some workshops use modern carding machines to fluff the wool, the majority of the felt-making process remains primitive, passed down through centuries. The origins of Namda can be traced back to Iran and Turkey, and it is said that the craft was brought to India by a person named Nubi who created felt fabric to protect Emperor Akbar's horse from the cold in the 11th century. Impressed by the craftsmanship, Akbar gave the craft the title of Namda.

Our felt toys, which include adorable animal figures such as elephants, goats, and reindeer, are a modern twist on this ancient art form. These toys and ornaments not only showcase the skill and creativity of the Tonk artisans but also represent the art of acceptance and unity that the region is known for, particularly during the British rule where it served as a symbol of Hindu-Muslim unity in India.
